Leave No Trace: seven principles to care for the destination
Every Wechuntu outing follows Leave No Trace. Here are the seven principles and how we apply them.
Every Wechuntu outing follows the Leave No Trace principles, an outdoor ethics framework used worldwide. Our trip leader is trained as a Leave No Trace Master (NOLS).
- Plan ahead and prepare.
- Travel and camp on durable surfaces.
- Dispose of waste properly: pack it in, pack it out.
- Leave what you find: rocks, plants and cultural objects stay where they are.
- Minimise campfire impacts.
- Respect wildlife: watch from a distance and never feed animals.
- Be considerate of other visitors and local communities.
Caring for the land is how it stays a destination for generations to come.
