2026-2027 recreational fishing season in Los Ríos: what you need to know
Dates, licence, bag limits and the catch-and-release rivers around Choshuenco.
The salmonid recreational fishing season in the Los Ríos Region runs from 9 October 2026 to 30 May 2027. Before your first cast, check these basic rules.
Fishing licence
- It is mandatory and you must carry it at all times. Buy it online at pescarecreativa.sernapesca.cl and show it on your phone.
- Weekly, monthly and annual licences are available for Chileans, residents and foreigners.
- Children under 12, Chileans and residents over 65, and people in the National Disability Registry are exempt.
General regional rules
- Up to 3 fish or 15 kg per angler per day, whichever comes first.
- One rod per person and artificial lures.
- No fishing between 22:00 and 06:00.
- Setting nets in rivers and lakes is a crime. Report it on 133 (Carabineros).
Catch-and-release rivers
On the Llanquihue, Enco and San Pedro rivers and their tributaries, catch and release applies and only fly or single lure is allowed. On the Llanquihue this covers the stretch from the Neltume–Fuy confluence to its mouth, plus the first 1,000 metres into Lake Panguipulli. Check the current details with Sernapesca before you go.
Good release practice
- Use barbless hooks or flatten the barb.
- Wet your hands before handling the fish and don't squeeze it.
- Keep it out of the water as little as possible and release it facing the current.
- Native species are always released immediately.
Didymo alert
Before and after each day, remove algae from boots, waders and gear, wash them with detergent and let them dry completely, so you don't carry this invasive microalga between basins.
